How do I configure my e-mail?

If you are using Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express go to the tools menu and click on accounts.  Now choose the mail tab, second from the left.  Click the add> button and choose mail.  Enter the name you want to display when people receive your e-mails.  Then click next.  Enter your e-mail address, ex: you@yourdomain.com, and click next.  Using a POP3 server type mail.yourdomain.com, for the incoming mail server and mail.yourdomain.com, for your outgoing mail server. Then click next.  Type in your given username and password and then click next.  Then click finish and you are all done.

The amount of e-mail accounts you have depends on the plan you are currently signed up for.  You can add e-mail addresses for a reasonable price, depending on how many more you would need.

How do I FTP my site to the server?

Using your chosen FTP client type in your domain name, ftp.yourdomain.com,  as the FTP client host address.  Then type in your username and password where it asks for them and click either OK or Connect.  You should now be connected to your site through FTP and be able to upload or download files from this area.  If you do not have an FTP client visit http://www.cuteftp.com for a free trial version FTP client.

How often do you back-up data?

We back up all the sites on our servers once a month to disk.  We also back sites under certain plans to our hard drive once a week.  If your plan doesn't back your site up as often as you would like, contact us for an upgrade.

What is a Secure Socket Layer, SSL, and why would I want one?

A Secure Socket Layer, SSL, is a certificate that encrypts the information you are sending from someone's site.  You are able to tell if a site has one by looking in the lower right hand corner of your browser, if there is a locked lock in the corner then the site is secure.  This helps to prevent others from viewing the information you are sending.  This is highly recommended to those sites that have e-commerce running on their sites to hide users credit card numbers.  To purchase a Secure Certificate for your site contact us.

What are Meta-Tags and why do I need them?

Meta-Tags are search engine helpers.  They are lines of code on your home page that hold keywords and a description of your site.  When someone searches one of those keywords, the search engine looks at your meta-tags for the keyword and returns your site with its results.  Meta-Tags do not ensure listing on a search engines results.

Why do I need to be submitted to search engines?

Search engines are the key to business.  If you do not show up in search, people aren't able to find your site.  Submitting your site to search engines helps get your name out to the public and bring people to your site.
